Rainy October Days & Autumn Hygge Activities | Blogtober Day 1

Welcome October & The Start of Blogtober 2024

I was contemplating whether to do Blogtober 2024 this year. It’s been a while since I felt inspired to write and post on here but it’s Autumn and this blog wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for my love for the season and all the blessings and cozyness it brings.

I planned on starting Blogtober on October 1st and kept trying to write every day since but perfectionism (& life things) took the best of me.

Finally, I decided it’s more important to show up, give myself some grace, and just share life’s everyday moments of joy and bliss.

I’m excited to write and I have so many ideas! If you want to follow all my Blogtober 2024 posts, you can do so here.

Rainy October Days: The Perfect Cozy Ambiance

The first days of October have been rainy and gloomy with air so crisp you could almost smell the pumpkin pies and apple cider in the air. At last, fall has made its glorious appearance with a quiet poetic entrance.

On days like these, I tend to stay inside, read, light a candle, and work from home. There’s something so magical about fall rain, foggy windows, and bringing out your favorite sweaters.

September left in a rush, as if it was making space for October to mark the beginning of real autumn. I baked my first batch of fall pumpkin spice cookies and cinnamon rolls, brewed my first kettle of tea, and painted my nails a beautiful deep red-brown.

Fall is here and I’m coming to life in this season.

Simple Autumn Hygge Activities

October has been rainy so far, with a sprinkle of sunshine here and there, so there’s not much to do outside. To make the most of my time, I made a list of autumn fall hygge activities to do on a rainy day:

  • Make my own DIY fall decorations
  • Bake fall cookies, cinnamon rolls, and pancakes
  • Watch the rain fall from the window of a cozy cafe
  • Listen to a cozy fall autumn playlist
  • Watch a fall-themed movie (I love Hallmark!)

Seasonal Anxiety Tips

Fall is my favorite season and after an unbearable summer, I prayed for some chilly weather and rain. But the change of seasons doesn’t come without its challenges and I noticed myself feeling a little more anxious as the year is slowly coming to an end.

I think naturally, many of us are wrapping things up, finishing projects and goals, and preparing for a long winter. My anxiety gets worse if I don’t leave the house a few days in a row or when I think of all the changes that are happening in my life that I have no control over.

I think about the future, the state of the economy, growing this blog, and still finding the time and energy to enjoy this season. I try to stay present and remember that this day, season, and year will only happen once and never again.

I don’t have the magic cure for anything; life happens and we all handle it the best we can. The best seasonal anxiety tips I could offer would be:

  • Practice simple self care and do things that make your heart happy
  • Go outside, get some fresh air, and take a long mindful walk
  • Pick up a bunch of fresh flowers from the grocery store and arrange them
  • Make your home a cozy, comfy place with blankets, candles, and wall art
  • Remember it’s a bad day, not a bad life and tomorrow is a new beginning

The autumn season is the perfect time to reset your habits and embrace a slower pace of life.

Appreciating The Things We Have Right Now

It’s easy to fall into holiday planning and rush into finishing up projects and plans before the year ends. But if autumn can teach us anything it’s to slow down and appreciate the things we have right now. That is exactly how I plan to approach Blogtober: with an open mind and faith that inspiration will come.
