When I got the idea for this blog post, I had just finished my day and was getting ready for a calm evening at home. The house was clean, the baby asleep, and the coffee was waiting for me in the kitchen. I thought to myself, wow, I sure rushed through my day today.

I had so many things to do, so many chores and errands, I could barely take a moment to breathe. My only slow time is at night, when the house is quiet and everything is done. And I’m happy with that. I’ll take it — it’s better than nothing, and it helps me reset.

And while I daydream about life in the countryside, I need to find ways to slow down during the day as well. When the house is messy, when I have errands, when I take care of my very active toddler — in the midst of it all, life is happening, and I need to find ways to be present for it, nor wish the hours away.

So, whether you’re on a healing path or are just starting your own slow living journey, this blog is a safe space to come back to. You’ll find comfort, calm, real-life stories and experiences, and most importantly, a real human behind it all.

So I hope you stick around and make it a cozy ritual to visit here, where you take a few quiet moments for yourself.

What Slow Living Is: A Path to Present, Intentional Healing

Slowing down when you’ve been living life outside of yourself can be very challenging. Looking at the life you’ve fought so hard to build and realizing it still doesn’t make you happy is a different kind of sorrow.

I think life in a modern society is naturally fast-paced. Everything is at your fingertips and you want to be everywhere and do everything for everyone. But it comes at a price, and often that price is complete burnout.

I do believe that slow living can heal you in more ways than one, and here are some of the ways it has helped me:

I realized slow doesn’t have to be boring; your creativity will blossom when you open up space in your mind!

A soft life is not all about pink, romanticizing everything, glow-ups, and such — a soft life is a life that lets you soften in your true nature. My Soft Life Planner is the perfect tool to get you started.

You can live a slower, simpler life anywhere — you don’t have to move to the countryside or live somewhere remote. Location definitely helps, but it’s not what makes slow living a lifestyle.

When life got difficult or overwhelming, instead of doing more, I started doing less. Sometimes, I did nothing at all, I just tried to enjoy the moment by journaling, reading, listening to the radio…

I stopped treating slow living as a destination that I’ll reach someday when I move to the countryside. I started living more slowly here, now, today, in my current life. It’s not always aesthetic or pretty, but it’s healing me in more ways than I expected.

I started listening to my inner dialogue more. I learned about myself more and started doing things for myself more. I appreciated myself more and went after my dreams with more courage.

I realized that today, a moment of slowness can be sipping my coffee on the couch while my daughter plays with her toys. It can be a moment of writing down an idea or a thought or a journal prompt. A 15-minute break on the balcony after I put my daughter to bed. It truly is in the simple things.

This is why I believe slow living can heal you in small ways that can mend your heart, one beautiful moment after another.

What Slow Living Is Not: An Escape From Life

Even though the thought of Pinterest-cottagecore-romantic-countryside-sourdough image of slow living looks like a permanent vacation from your life, it’s so far from it. Beyond the aesthetic, huge farmhouse, baby ducks, and perfectly frilly dresses, there’s a thick layer of privilege.

Yes, slow living doesn’t cost money, but at the same time, not everyone can afford to just upend their life and move to the countryside to grow a garden and build their dream home. Oftentimes, this version of slow living takes sacrificing your finances, life goals, time, and relationships.

So no, slow living is not a way to escape your life. It will not make your problems instantly go away, nor will it make you infinitely happy. What it will do, though, is shine a light on what needs tending to.

The parts of you you’ve been neglecting. The desires you’ve put to the side for “one day”. The courage you may need to find in order to change your life fundamentally.

If you’re looking for escapism, you won’t find it here. I once fell into the trap of following idyllic slow living content, and instead of being inspired, I realized how far I was from this type of life, both physically and financially.

Knowing what’s possible is one thing, but when you’re stuck in a life you don’t like while actively looking for a way out, it can put immense pressure on you, and we’re not here for that. We’re here to soothe our nervous systems, rediscover what it is that we want in life, and finally come back to our authentic selves.

Where Do We Go From Here?

While my blog is all about daydreaming, finding joy in the simple things, and working towards your goals of a slow living lifestyle, it is also rooted in real life.

I know burnout very intimately. I know financial struggles, heartbreak, and unfulfilled dreams very closely. I know exactly what it’s like to scroll through endless slow living accounts on Pinterest and Instagram and think to yourself: I want that for myself and my family — and then you feel bad because you’re not there yet, so you just go back to your job and daily obligations.

So where do we go from here? Let’s walk this road together and find out. Let’s take one simple step toward building the life that we dream of every day.
